FlipYo is a peer-to-peer platform. We process personal data to operate the platform and connect Lenders and Renters, but responsibility for how Lenders and Renters treat each other's information outside the platform rests with those individuals.

FlipYo I/S ("FlipYo," "we," "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Danish data protection law. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Cookies Policy, which cover related aspects of how we operate the platform and use cookies.

2. What Data We Collect

  • Account information: name, email, phone number, profile photo, encrypted password.
  • Identity verification: processed via MitID. FlipYo does not store your MitID credentials.
  • Payment information: processed via Stripe. FlipYo does not store full card details.
  • Listing data: item descriptions, photos, pricing, and availability.
  • Transaction data: rental history, ratings, reviews, and TreeCoin activity.
  • Location data: approximate location or postcode, to show nearby items.
  • Communications: in-app chat messages between Lenders and Renters.
  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and cookies (see our Cookies Policy).

3. Why We Process Your Data

  • Performance of a contract — creating your account, verifying identity, processing rentals and payments.
  • Legitimate interests — platform security, fraud prevention, content moderation.
  • Consent — optional marketing communications and non-essential cookies.
  • Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and regulatory compliance.

4. Who We Share Data With

  • MitID — identity verification.
  • Stripe — payment processing and deposit handling.
  • Klimaskov Fonden — only aggregated, non-identifying totals for tree planting.
  • Hosting and IT providers — to operate the platform securely.
  • Public authorities — where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. International Data Transfers

Where data is processed outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with Datatilsynet (the Danish Data Protection Agency), www.datatilsynet.dk. To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected].

8. Children

FlipYo is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

9. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, though no system is completely secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to users.
